Safe Communities

As Douglas County Sheriff, Dan has worked diligently to keep our county safe by ensuring that deputies are well-trained and equipped to handle all of the calls that come into the Sheriff’s Office. He has made license plate readers a key component of law enforcement to help prevent property crimes in the area which has led to several criminal captures already. He remains committed to working with all regional partners to make sure the office provides high-quality service and be responsive when crimes take place.

Sheriff’s Office as a Community Partner

Sheriff Coverley has made community partnerships a top priority. Under Dan’s leadership, DCSO raised funds for local non-profit organizations including the Family Support Council, Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation, Good Neighbors, TRIAD, Neighborhood Watch and many more. Dan also promoted safer neighborhoods and visibility of deputies in their neighborhoods by allowing deputies to take their patrol vehicles home.

Drugs

Drug use continues to be a top concern for our community. Dan is committed to making sure the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is able to handle the issue of drugs and drug use in our community. He worked to create the very first Street Enforcement Team (SET) in Douglas County to take on narcotics directly. When re-elected, he will continue to coordinate with all jurisdictions in Douglas County to keep SET focused on investigating all drug-related issues, from gangs to prescription drugs.

Investing in Our Deputies

During his career in the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, he saw first-hand how important it is to invest in our deputies. He will continue to fight to make compensation comparable to other regional law enforcement agencies to help recruit and retain the deputies who provide high-quality service to our local community. Under Sheriff Coverley, our deputies will have the resources and equipment they need to effectively and safely serve our community.
